The Confidence Jar
Building confidence activity
What You’ll Need:
A jar, box, worksheet or container
Strips of colorful paper
Pens or markers
How to Do It:
Create the Jar: Decorate the jar with encouraging words like “Confidence,” “I Am Awesome,” or “You’ve Got This!” Let the kids help with stickers, drawings, or paint.
Write Positive Notes: On each strip of paper, write down:
Something the child loves about themselves (e.g., “I am good at drawing.”)
A recent accomplishment (e.g., “I helped clean the kitchen.”)
A compliment they’ve received (e.g., “My teacher said I’m kind.”)
Words of encouragement (e.g., “You are brave and strong.”)
Daily Ritual: Every day, have the child pull out one strip from the jar and read it out loud. Encourage them to add new notes as they think of more positive things.
Reflection Time: Discuss how the affirmations make them feel and remind them of how amazing they are.
Why It Works:
Regularly reading affirmations reinforces positive self-talk.
Writing accomplishments builds self-awareness and confidence in their abilities.
It’s interactive and allows the child to celebrate themselves daily.
This activity can also evolve into a family activity where everyone contributes to a shared confidence jar! Let me know if you'd like variations or more ideas.
